Jake update: I was getting a bit concerned about Jakes head indentation, so popped into the vets this morning to book an appointment. We went straight in...fantastic. After some looking, prodding, poking, feeling and sensory testing, we have come to the conclusion that the abscess he had a few weeks ago has caused major damage to a nerve in his face, hence the sunken look on the right side of his skull. His muzzle is fine, his ear is fine, but between the two points he has lost his sight, feeling and now the muscle(s) have deteriorated causing his latest look. There is nothing that can be done for him, so it could just be a matter of time before the nerve heals itself and the muscle returns or if not he will look like this for the rest of his life. At his age (9 1/2) I think this is his future look. He seems OK in himself and eating OK, so Ill just let him enjoy his life with a wonky head to go with his wonky joints...
