*Jakey Update* Jacob has been released from his speech therapy as of last Friday. The therapist is putting him on a maintenance plan, even though he still cant speak clearly, he still requires a feeding tube and can only eat certain foods that are fed to him. We all work hard to be as positive as possible and have faith, but when you feel as if the specialist does not have the faith to continue therapy it can be a blow. Joie had a hard time hearing this, so please continue to pray for her continued strength and Jacobs will to continue to fight to regain his independence that was taken so carelessly and abruptly from him. Some things at Shepherds have been very positive, especially with Occupational Therapy and his hands, fingers and wrists. Joie is a bit disappointed in the other aspects and feel as if TGH is a bit more aggressive with his Physical Therapy. The positive aspect is he is getting another set of eyes on him and seeing lots of different doctors and specialists. The apartment is accessible so that he does have more independence and will prepare him for his new home in PC which is ready to be moved in. Thank you Ronald Allen!! Shepherds is well known for their brain injury program and I think it just depends on what level you are and what program you have qualified for. As of now, his release date is August 15th, they will leave and get settled into their new house and Jacob will be starting school at Strawberry Crest working around all of his different therapies.
