Jalal Chandio (1944 ― 2001 | real Jalal-u-din Chandio) (Edited by: Admin. Sindhi Topi Day | Surveyed by: Sagheer Rajpar from his blog Jalal Chandio) Pakistani Sindhi-language folk-singer (other languages include Siraiki, Urdu, Punjabi & Balochi) Born in 1944 in Misir-Wah village in Phul, Noushero Feroz (Sindh ― Pakistan). Jalal was the youngest of 5 siblings ― a son of peasant, he began singing after falling in love. Jalal sang more than 10,000 songs in his singing-career. Often considered as one of the greatest Sindhi vocalists―ruling the ordinary and extraordinary hearts, with (his) mostly passionate love-songs. The rural audience in major parts of Sindh are apparently addicted to love-thematic songs―and at par-excellence, Jalal had honorably filled the void for years. Jalals throaty voice could spellbind the listeners; whod (eventually) join him and dance to the tune. He had made an unprecedented number of fans, not only in Sindh but beyond the province.. Apparently, he belonged to Yaktarepota School of Singing―which is basically meant for the mystic singing, but later on, he developed his own style―with a traditionally-decorated Yaktara and Chapriyoon (castanets), he would sing in the popular Sindhi rhythmic-beats called Kalwaro, Adho, Dedho and Ektal. This, had nothing extraordinary to contribute other than the versatility to his renditions ― which is the reason why on every road-transport in Sindh, his songs have been playing so frequently. At peak in his career, Jalal was limited to singing at the wedding ceremonies or festivities. He also performed in foreign lands namely UAE, Oman, and Turkey etc. Jalal died on 10 January, 2001, as a result of kidney failure
