James 1:22 But be doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves. ESV Listening to the Word of God brings faith. But that is only the beginning. If we listen only and stop there, we have faith with no fruit. The deception is like the fig tree that had no fruit. Jesus cursed that tree, it was useless. So it is with our faith. True faith will produce fruit. A tree bearing fruit is an active process that can be seen and others benefit and are fed from it. Heavenly Father, by Your grace and mercy, convict our hearts of being hearers of Your Word only. Put an unquenchable desire in us to grow in faith and produce fruit so that others can feed on Your awesomeness and gift of salvation. In the name of Jesus we pray, Amen.
