James 4:14 Why, you do not even know what will happen tomorrow. What is your life? You are a mist that appears for a little while and then vanishes. In both the Old and New Testaments there is a truth that we must acknowledge. Very simply put, life is short. Even if we live to be 80 as is described in Psalm 90 our lives are full of trouble and sorrow and then we are gone. James says our lives are like a vapor or a mist...and then we vanish. That tells me a couple of things. One is that this life is not the end. It is merely preparation for eternity. The life here after is the life we must be concerned about. I realize life here is tough and holds some real tragedies but life here is the preparation ground for the eternity that God has promised to them that love Him. Number two is that we arent guaranteed anything as to length of days. We need to stay ready. We have all lost someone we love way too soon and its such a tragedy. It is painful for all who are close to it. But it is life. Life is short and our preparation for eternity ought to be a priority. Be ready for you do not know the hour or the day when the Son of Man shall return. He will come even as a thief in the night. Get ready church! Jesus is coming!! Be ready. I love ya, Pastor
