James BowieHull Homeless Outreach 10 hrs · I do find it quite amazing. Last winter three of us decided to go into town with a van full of clothes to give to the homeless, we did not know what to expect, however the three of us EG: Myself, Peter Lomas and Marie Parker Sat in the town centre for the whole afternoon in the freezing cold, and then they came, We clothed a number of homeless that day and got to know where a lot of them hung out. We even had a visit from a pensioner who could not afford to heat his home so was asking for a blanket which we happily gave him. After that day we went out again a number of times looking for the homeless and giving them clothes etc.. Each time we went out, more people volunteered to help. Then we decided that we would set up a make shift street kitchen on St Peters Street here in Hull, there we were on cold Wednesday evenings with a couple of small gas stoves and some stew and tinned soups. Each week saw more and more homeless turning up, and each week we also found how each act of kindness was contagious, so much so that we now have a fantastic bunch of volunteers, cooking hearty meals each and every week and coming out on the wednesday evening and ensuring our homeless community get fed and have an opportunity to socialise. This simple random act of kindness has now blossomed into what Hull Homeless Outreach is today, a big family, giving up their time to do good. So you see, each and every Random Act Of Kindness is most certainly Contagious, So more people should give it a try. So please keep sharing the love.
