James Franklin Carpenter Age 75, of Cairo, WV passed May 05, 2014 at his residence. He was born May 20, 1938 at Mellin, WV, the son of the late Henry Franklin and Glady Pearl Sidwell Carpenter. Jim was a U.S. Army Veteran and worked as a school bus driver for the Ritchie County Board of Education for 34 years. He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting and fishing. He was a Cincinnati Reds baseball fan. He is survived by two daughters, Diane Carpenter of Cairo and Linda Snyder (Jared) of Parkersburg; brother, Martin Carpenter (Judy) of Harrisville; sisters, Ethel Deem and Susie McDonald (John), both of Harrisville; six grandchildren, Aaron Parsons, Dustin McDonald, Bobby Varner, Nathan Knotts, Ty McClung and Hannah McClung; three great-grandchildren, Payton, Daisy and Dominic McDonald; and living companion and caregiver, Sherry Byrd. He was preceded in death by his wife, Judy Ann Echard Carpenter; son, James Edward “Jim Bob” Carpenter; three brothers, Henry “June” Carpenter, Ronnie Lee Carpenter, and William Carpenter; and two sisters, Mary Zimmerman and Barbara Carpenter. Funeral services will be held at 1 PM, Friday, May 09, 2014 at Cantwell Church of Christ with military honors provided by the WV Chapter of Patriot Guard Riders. Rev. Clyde Border will be officiating. Burial will follow in the Log Church Cemetery. Friends may visit at Raiguel Funeral Home, Cairo, Thursday from 4-8 PM and one hour prior to services Friday at the church.
