James Hamilton Photograph Collection - Update Last week I - TopicsExpress

James Hamilton Photograph Collection - Update Last week I arranged a meeting of several industry professionals and friends of James to view the photo collection and decide the best way to make them available for public viewing. The venue was my home and present were Tony Prince (DMC), John Saunderson (Ex DMC & Music Publisher), Jeff Young (Radio Presenter & Music Industry Professional), Mike Sefton (Music Industry Professional) and myself. The collection was 70% pictures taken at DMC world mixing championship events, to which James was invited and was on the judging panel. It included competition entrants and winners at heats and finals along with music business people present at these events. The rest of the collection consisted of pictures taken at music events such as Caister soul weekenders and events in New York and Hamburg. All present agreed that whilst the photographs are of great interest to DJs and people involved in the dance music industry at the time, it did not contain pictures that would be of interest to the general public therefore of little commercial value and not suitable for publication as a book. As I stated previously, the pictures were given to me by James wife Sally shortly after his passing and I did not wish to make any monetary gain. My intention was to make them available for anybody interested to view them and any proceeds that could be raised should go to charity. In view of this, Tony Prince offered to have the entire collection scanned, tagged and made available for free public viewing on the DMC website. In return he is making a very generous donation to The Nordoff Robbins Music Therapy Trust. All present at the meeting agreed that the offer was generous and fair and will ensure that James photos can be made available for all to see as well as raising money for a very worthy cause. I would like to thank Tony, Jeff, Mike and John for giving up their time to help me ensure James photos went to a good home. Most important of all is that I believe James would be very happy to know his photo collection will finally be seen by all and has helped a worthy cause. RIP my good friend, James Hamilton.
