James “Roger” Botkins, 75, of Flemingsburg passed away Friday evening after an extended illness. Roger was born October 29, 1938 in Fleming County to the late Elmer and Nannie Howell Botkin. Roger had worked as a TV tech and appliance repairman. In later years he sold used appliance at his shop and usually you could find him there working on something. He was preceded in death by his 2 step-sons John and Terry Cooper, brother Doug Botkin, sister-in-law Judy Botkin and his parents. Survivors include his wife Janice Burke Cooper Botkin; sons James Roger Botkin Jr. and Robert McMillen; daughters Sheri Botkin Helterbrand and Bonita Botkin; step-daughters Sherri Cooper Springate and Susan Cooper West; grandchildren Stone Burke, McKenzie Armstrong, Stacy McMillen, Gabriel Botkin, Madeline Springate and Taylor West; brothers Donnie and Clarence Botkin; sister Ruth Ann Honaker; several nieces, nephews and friends. Funeral services will be at 1PM Tuesday January 14, 2014 at Boone – Nickell Funeral Home with Bro. Jesse Hickerson officiating. Burial will follow in Fleming County Cemetery.
