James Snell of Rothesay, Bedford, Halifax and Chester, with work - TopicsExpress

James Snell of Rothesay, Bedford, Halifax and Chester, with work roots in the Wentworth Valley and Hubbards, was remembered Saturday by his friends in a gathering in Bedford organized by his long-time friend and colleague, Rob Williams. Elizabeth Snell and family welcomed friends who reflected on Jim’s life with stories of his inspiration of non- sailors to become Olympians, his woodlot trailer equipped with a brook-fed shower heated by copper coils around his woodstove (the design was nautically inspired), his lifetime planting of 100,000 trees to replenish those harvested for his Habitations International (Interhabs) use, and his love of family. Held at BBYC, where he was a past Commodore, a feast for all was catered by Captain Cook Catering. It was a fitting sendoff for an honorable Nova Scotian sailor, businessman and gentleman.
