James had a greater friendship with Cliff than with Lars, in the Decade of 80. They always move together, tease and drank, and split the women among themselves to satisfy their dirty stuff in group. The friendship was immense, so much so that, who helped James to evolve was Cliff himself, who taught him music theory, as well as harmony and brought innovative elements to Metallica. However, Cliff died in 1986, and James felt desolate, as well as his two friends Lars and Kirk. With that, the episode contributed to that James could have more friendship with Lars and become what they are today and that actually have always been, but with little demonstration at that time, inseparable companions.
