Jamie Fosenberg complained to the police chief of San Bernardino. This was his response. Either the shelter is CYA and lying or falsifying documents. Because we all know there are many cases of this going on. ---If replying by email, enter your reply above this line--- Dear Jamie, Your request # 1691428 has been resolved with the resolution: Sparky was malnourished when he came to the Shelter on 4/5/14. He was vaccinated and given food and water, which he consumed. Shelter staff did not observe any signs of URI or illness. On 4/10/14, Sparky was taken to a veterinarian prior to being adopted on 4/12/14. Per the vet, Sparky was malnourished but was eating. No outward illnesses were noted. There is nothing that I have found that supports Sparky had pneumonia or kennel cough while he was at the Shelter. Shelter staff did provide adequate food, water, and vet care for Sparky. This is in reference to the Complaint on Contact Chief Burguan you submitted on 04/13/2014 6:38 PM Location: San Bernardino Animal Shelter Description: The first photo is of Sparky (Dalmatian) at intake at the shelter. There is a youtube video posted on this boy that shows he can stand, wag his tail and happy. Fast forward approximately 7 days in the shelter - see photo 2-4. He was dehydrated, weak, could not walk, has pneumonia, kennel cough, not eating, etc. The shelter manager and the officer in charge of the shelter did not provide adequate food, water, and vet care for this dog. This is not an isolated event. This has happened many times, this event is just the most recent. This is appalling and in my honest opinion (I am retired LEO) Animal Neglect and Animal Abuse. The shelter manager and officer in charge of the shelter should be charged with the crime of animal abuse. They should be removed immediately from their positions and a complete investigation into the shelter should commence immediately. This is horrific treatment of any animal!
