Jammu August, 05 2013: Raghunath Bazaar Businessmen Association, today held a function to ceremonially thank and facilitate MLA Jammu City East, Ashok Khajuria who had granted Rs 5 Lakh from his Constituency Development Fund for up gradation and beautification of Ashoka Market in the bazaar. On the occasion of Republic Day, this year Ashok Khajuria had in a function organized by the association, announced grant of Rs 5 lakh for the purpose. The work on the project of improving drainage system and flooring of the market with decorative tiles has since been completed. The installation of nameplate in the market was inaugurated by Sh Ashok Khajuria. The function was presided over by Commissioner JMC K L Khajuria, while Director Tourism Jammu Sojanya Sharma was the guest of owner. Mr Baldev Khullar President RBBA, on behalf of the association and traders in the market thanked Ashok Khajuria for his gesture. Mr Khullar also stressed the need for up gradation and beautification of other four markets within the bazaar, as Janta Market, Amar Market, New Market and Raghunath Market. Mr Khajuria announced grant of another Rs 5 lakh for improvement of these markets in the bazaar. Mr Khullar also stressed on the need to improve and upgrade the side lanes in the historical Raghunath bazaar, for which he appealed to other MLAs from the city and the MLCs to contribute out of their constituency development funds. He also stressed for early sanction of the balance amount of Rs 3.70 crores by the government, to early complete the project of up gradation and beautification of the historical bazaar. Mr Khullar also demanded installation of LED wall at Raghunath Chowk, by the Tourism department, in coordination with the JMC, for regular display of Jammu region’s historical, tourist and pilgrimage spots, to motivate Vaishno Devi pilgrims and other visitors coming to Jammu to visit these places. He also appealed to the JMC for installing ornamental antique electric lamps in the adjoining market of the Raghunath bazaar, to give it heritage look. He further demanded the tourism department to declare the entire Raghunath bazaar area as a tourist area, on the pattern of Katra and Kud with providing all facilities like interruption free electric power around the clock and also the state of art sanitation in the bazaar. He further asked the JMC to construct Sulhab Sochalayas, separately for males and females at appropriate places in or adjoining the bazaar. Mr Khullar thanked the traders in the Ashoka Market for hosting the function.
