Jane Boleyn nee Parker, Lady Rochford has been another maligned - TopicsExpress

Jane Boleyn nee Parker, Lady Rochford has been another maligned figure in history. In The Six Wives of Henry VIII (TV series) she was portrayed as an emotionless, amoral woman who was eager to bring her husband and sister in law down and aided Katherine Howard in her quest to bring the King a son, even if it wasnt the Kings. In other adaptations she has fared no better. In The Tudors she is played by a more youthful actress but her role remains the same. She is a schemer and her husband is portrayed in an even more terrible light as a rapist and an abuser. In real life as the next post below will show you, Jane Boleyn, Lady Rochford bore no resentment to her husband. The fact that the two were married for over a decade and had no children, is not something to find suspicious. Mary Is great-grandparents, the Duke and Duchess of York were married very young and it took them over eight years to conceive. Given that miscarriages were not often recorded unless the couple was royal; it is possible that Jane suffered from many miscarriages that we dont know about. Secondly as the post below also proves, there is no evidence that they hated each other and in fact she wrote to him before his execution. In relations to Princess Mary, then Lady Mary; Janes family was very loyal to her. Jane for example exhibited some sympathy to her as did her father. Unfortunately as with our Queen, Mary Tudor, Jane Parker continues to be historys scapegoat.
