January 16 VISION DESTROYS IDLENESS Bible Passage: Matthew 20:1-7 For the kingdom of heaven is like a landowner who went out early in the morning to hire laborers for his vineyard. 2 Now when he had agreed with the laborers for a denarius a day, he sent them into his vineyard. 3 And he went out about the third hour and saw others standing idle in the marketplace, 4 and said to them, You also go into the vineyard, and whatever is right I will give you. So they went. 5 Again he went out about the sixth and the ninth hour, and did likewise. 6 And about the eleventh hour he went out and found others standing idle, and said to them, Why have you been standing here idle all day? 7 They said to him, Because no one hired us. He said to them, You also go into the vineyard, and whatever is right you will receive. Meditation: Judges 8:4 When Gideon came to the Jordan, he and the three hundred men who were with his crossed over, exhausted but still in pursuit. The Message No Vision indicates No Direction, so idleness and boredom become the norm. Vision is the antidote for boredom and confusion. I am never bored; in fact, my time seems not to be enough for me to do all the things I need to do. Vision defines your destination in life. If for instance you are to drive from Abuja to Lagos; a journey of at least 8 to 9 hours, you cant be tired or bored after two hours and then park your car. Rather, you double up and keep going till you arrive at your destination. That is how vision infuses strength. It wakes you up every morning and pushes you into the place of prayer to receive divine backing for your endeavours. Arch Bishop Idahosa of blessed memory was placed on bed rest after dislocating his ankle, but had a major conference to attend, so he told his leg, Lets go, otherwise I will meet you when I come back. The leg cooperated and he went to the conference. A man of vision is not controlled by tiredness; he is in control of his body. Prayer Points: • Oh God, let my vision infuse me with strength and urgency of the spirit to keep me moving against all odds till I reach my goal, in the mighty name of Jesus. • Father, in the name of Jesus, I bring my body under the control of the Holy Ghost in order to pursue my purpose effectively, in Jesus name. • In the name of Jesus, I give no place to slothfulness, laziness and idleness in my life. God, let your fire enter into me and drive out any of such from my life. • Lord Jesus, I want to make Heaven; whatever I will do, that will make You blot my name out of the book of life, please Lord, in Your mercy help me not to do it.
