January 21, 2015: Afternoon winter storm update. As always, - TopicsExpress

January 21, 2015: Afternoon winter storm update. As always, winter weather forecasts evolve. One forecast wont accurately nail what will happen. Check back frequently for updates here and on the WeatherTalk E-Journal. A light winter weather event may bring some rain/snow or snow to a few of our counties on Friday. The storm track is still questionable. I see some snowfall prediction maps already being posted. A little early for that, but Right now the odds favor very little snow falling over southeast Missouri and southern Illinois and a big chunk of western Kentucky. The best chance for a dusting of snow or perhaps even an inch or two would be the southeast part of the area. That would run along a line from south of Mayfield, Kentucky over towards the Land Between the Lakes and then east/northeast towards Central City, Kentucky. Any shift in the storms path would change the forecast. If the storm shifts northwest then the chance of snow would be introduced further west into our region. Right now the odds favor the eastern part of the area receiving some light snow. The snow may be a rain/snow mix changing to snow. Most likely time frame would be Friday afternoon and evening. I will post some maps below.
