January 31st – The House GOP yesterday released its “Standards for Immigration Reform.” Not included were these “Standards” - Immigration officials must ensure that immigrants upon entry have the necessary funds for their sustenance and for their dependents. (Article 34) Classify the act of illegal immigration as a felony, with possible imprisonment for: a) foreigners who enter the country with fake or falsely signed papers (Article 116) b) up to 10 years for foreigners who are deported and illegally attempt to re-enter (Article 118) c) up to 6 years for foreigners who violate the terms of their visa (Articles 119 - 121) & d) up to 2 years for ANYONE who illegally enters the country (Article 123) Too tough? All these “standards” are from MEXICO’S immigration laws! So why now GOP? Why when Gallup this month showed ONLY 3% selecting this issue as America’s most important problem? Why when immigration wasn’t even in the top ten of DEM priorities? The number one problem according to Gallup? Dissatisfaction with government! Now we know why.
