January 5, 1973: MILESTONE -- From Small Things Big Things One Day Come That Bruce Springsteen title of one of his less known songs could well describe the release of his first album, GREETINGS FROM ASBURY PARK, released on this date in 1973. Sales were sparse but clearly Columbia records had high expectations of this Jersey boy who was discovered by Columbias legendary talent scout, John Hammond. Though not a huge success at the time, the album would attract some critical attention not to mention British rocker, Manfred Mann would later have a huge hit with the song, Blinded By the Light.
