January 9, 2015. Todays Challenge Genesis 25:27 - 28:5 Remember: 1. Read the suggested passages every day. 2. Find a verse or verse that hold special meaning for you in that day. 3. Praise God and pray for others in light to the Scripture you covered. 4. Reflect on the passages meaning and possibly journal a few ideas that God might be sharing with you. Todays Reflection: How many times do we find ourselves knowing that God is in control and yet, as Rebekah and Jacob, have decided to run ahead of God, thinking we know what we are doing? We believe that without our help, God could not accomplish what He intends for our lives. So we take matters into our own hands and what results is mayhem. For Jacob, it meant having to leave all those he loved. Imagine having to leave all you hold dear because of a mistake you made that you thought was a good idea. How much you would miss your family. Jacob was in this position in todays readings. Amazingly enough God did accomplish His plan for Jacobs life. Amazingly enough, God does accomplish His tasks in spite of our mistakes and sins. Instead of waiting for God to ensure the promise to Jacob, he and his mother made this grand scheme to help God. Do you want to know how to make God laugh? Tell Him your plans. This year we have the opportunity to do things in a new and improved way. WAITING. Waiting for God and not running ahead of Him. Yes, He has given us the great commission, so we are to be busy while we wait. However, for the other things in our lives, could we not just pray and wait for an answer? Let us start today. Let us really live by the faith we profess and quit running ahead of God helping Him with our good intentions and inadequate ways. Let us just rest in the knowledge that God will work out that which He has begun. Amen and Amen!! Todays video is a reflection on the sorrow of plans that didnt go according to schedule. Let us reflect today on avoiding this mistake and living our faith fully.
