The ground beneath the reactor 4 of the nuclear power is sinking and could become an unprecedented global catastrophe . During a recent interview, Mitsuhei Murata , former Japanese ambassador to Switzerland and Senegal , explained that the soil beneath the plant unit 4 is sinking , and the whole structure is very likely to the brink of total collapse . This is very worrying as 4 Unit currently has more than 1,500 spent nuclear fuel rods , and a group of 37 million curies of deadly radiation , unleashed, could do much of the world completely uninhabitable . Unit 4 contains the infamous high cooling pool which was badly damaged after the catastrophic earthquake and tsunami that struck March 11, 2011 . According to the secretary of former Japanese Prime Minister Naoto Kan , the ground beneath unit 4 already sunk in about 31.5 inches from the disaster, and this collapse has occurred unevenly. If the land continues to sink, which is expected , or if another earthquake even as low as a magnitude six occur in the region , the entire structure could collapse , which would be completely empty the cooling pool and cause a catastrophic collapse . If it collapses Unit 4, the worst case will be a merger, and a fire resulting in the atmosphere. That will be the unprecedented crises that man has ever experienced .
