Jarod Douglas Bonine came into the world 38 years ago today, July 22, weighing 9 lbs, 11 oz. He was born 16 mos after his brother, Michael. Like most parents expecting their second child, we wondered if we could love this new little one as much as we loved Michael. Those feelings quickly vanished when we laid eyes on his sweet face. As a little boy, Jarod loved hotdogs, Incredible Hulk and Dukes of Hazzard and asking questions, lots of questions. I guess he was already training to become an attorney. He kept a serious look on his face and was particularly serious about his meals. When Id pick him up from daycare in the afternoon, as soon as hed see me hed ask me what we were having for dinner. If Id tell him something he didnt like, like roast and green beans, not his favorite, hed fall down on the ground and cry and say I dont love green beans. His Aunt Mary still gets a kick out of that! Family is important to Jarod. He has a beautiful wife, Chandra, and two precious children, Cullen and Kate. Its fun watching Kate wrap him around her finger and when her daddys around, she only has eyes for him. Jarod has started taking Cullen hunting and has taught him how to fish. Im proud of what a good dad he is. He and his sisters and their spouses all enjoy being with one another. I just love that! Jarod shared a special relationship with my dad, his Papa, and Dad never tired of answering his questions or giving advice. His death was hard on my son, but not as hard as losing his brother. Those two boys were as different as night and day, but they had so much love and respect for one another. He and I have both lost a sibling. Wish we didnt have that in common. Jarod and family are spending his birthday week in St. Barths, so were not able to celebrate the day of his birth together, so this will have to do for now. HAPPY BIRTHDAY, my son! I love you very much!!!
