Jenny Branom Patberg, today I told a few people about the summer of 94, when Mom and Dad went on vacation and let us stay home alone. Specifically, about how we bought, on a whim, a chess set and so for two weeks there were Xavier and Brophy kids playing chess at our dining room table. That, and how there was a competition about who, using chopsticks, could be the fastest in moving chocolate-covered espresso beans from one bowl to another.
