Jeremiah 42:1-6 PRAY TO THE LORD FOR US And said to Jeremiah the prophet, Please… pray for us to the LORD your God, for all this remnant…” Jeremiah 42:2, NKJV We are in a critical period in the world history and people are looking up to the church for direction. Darkness covers the earth and gross darkness its people. In this passage, people needed the help of God’s servant, Prophet Jeremiah. They wanted him to discern the mind of God at that hour. They must have tried other measures that have failed and were left with this last choice - God. This is the dilemma of our time. People would initially explore several other options around. So, after getting their fingers burnt, they would be left with no other option than God. The people recognized the potency of Jeremiah’s prayer life. They, therefore, gathered unto him for help and God did not disappoint His servant. Daniel once asked for time extension to commune with God to solve the riddle of his time (Daniel 2:14-23). Elijah confidently declared: “As the LORD God of Israel lives, before whom I stand…” (1 Kings 17:1). Before whom do you stand too: before God or men?
