The Degrees, Not Debt Campaign aims to reduce student debt and make college affordable for ALL Americans. 7 in 10 college graduates owe money on graduation $29,000 is the amount of debt owed by 69% percent of 4-year college students $54,000 is the amount 10% of borrowers owe 60% of the 1.2 trillion debt is held by people over 30 yrs of age 33% are in default. WHY IS THIS IMPORTANT? Because our children will have a DEBT sentence for decades. It means that their ability to get a college education and achieve the American Dream (i.e. starting a family, starting a small business, buying a home) is literally being threatened by their education loans.
