Jesus from the Apostle John’s Perspective (series #8) Jesus is the Son of God: John 1:34 And I saw, and bare record that this is the Son of God. (The title “Son of God” is used one time in the OT [Daniel 3:25] and there are 46 NT references to Jesus Christ being the “Son of God.” For Jesus to be called the “Son of God” is to reference Jesus as God. See John 10:36; John 19:7; 1 John 5:20.) The Apostle John out of the various writers of the NT wrote more of Jesus being the Son of God then any of them; he wrote 18 times referencing Jesus is the Son of God; as follows… John 1:34 And I saw, and bare record that this is the Son of God. John 1:49 Nathanael answered and saith unto him, Rabbi, thou art the Son of God; thou art the King of Israel. John 3:18 He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God. John 5:25 Verily, verily, I say unto you, The hour is coming, and now is, when the dead shall hear the voice of the Son of God: and they that hear shall live. John 9:35 Jesus heard that they had cast him out; and when he had found him, he said unto him, Dost thou believe on the Son of God? John 10:36 Say ye of him, whom the Father hath sanctified, and sent into the world, Thou blasphemest; because I said, I am the Son of God? John 11:4 When Jesus heard that, he said, This sickness is not unto death, but for the glory of God, that the Son of God might be glorified thereby. John 11:27 She saith unto him, Yea, Lord: I believe that thou art the Christ, the Son of God, which should come into the world. John 19:7 The Jews answered him, We have a law, and by our law he ought to die, because he made himself the Son of God. John 20:31 But these are written, that ye might believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God; and that believing ye might have life through his name. 1John 3:8 He that committeth sin is of the devil; for the devil sinneth from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that he might destroy the works of the devil. 1John 4:15 Whosoever shall confess that Jesus is the Son of God, God dwelleth in him, and he in God. 1John 5:5 Who is he that overcometh the world, but he that believeth that Jesus is the Son of God? 1John 5:10 He that believeth on the Son of God hath the witness in himself: he that believeth not God hath made him a liar; because he believeth not the record that God gave of his Son. 1John 5:12 He that hath the Son hath life; and he that hath not the Son of God hath not life. 1John 5:13 These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God. 1John 5:20 And we know that the Son of God is come, and hath given us an understanding, that we may know him that is true, and we are in him that is true, even in his Son Jesus Christ. This is the true God, and eternal life.
