Jesus isnt a guru, teaching us how to relax, expand, or experience ourselves. He is a King leading us to establishing a kingdom. Followers arent traipsing around with Him so they can learn how to achieve serendipity, but to be discipled - so they can do what He does. While this includes doing miracles and demonstrating His authority and power, it is more about a broader influence and impact upon history. He doesnt help us experience ourselves but to fulfill a destiny only available to us when we deny ourselves. We dont actualize self. We actualize Him. We dont get what we want. We get Him what He wants. The believer doesnt achieve oneness with everything but oneness with purpose. There is denial, discipline, destruction, and death in redemption, according to Jesus (and He is the Expert!) the denial of self ifs redemptive unless it is a submission of self to Christ that briny scythe discovery of the reality do identity and destiny. Definition of self comes through discovery of self in Christ. Lose yourself to discover yourself in following Him, going through what He is going through, doing what He is doing, experiencing what He is experiencing.
