“Jesus said to him, No one who puts his hand to the plow and looks back [to the things behind] is fit for the kingdom of God.” Luke 9:62 If you ever want to know what prevents God from being able to use us like He wants to, and what hinders spiritual progress, it is looking behind us at our past. If you were to drive focused on the rear view mirror, you could wreck the car and endanger others. If you ran a race with your head turned back, you wouldn’t be able to win the race. God’s anointing and ability is available for you to win, to reach the finish line, and to touch every life you were created to touch. The enemy loves to remind us of our past, but when he does we must remind him of his future. The pain of your past will never outweigh the glorious future God has in store for you. Don’t look back. Don’t turn to the left. Don’t turn to the right. Keep your eyes fixed in front of you and keep your hands to the plow. There are things God wants to use you to do. Great things. Unstoppable things. But you must be steadfast, unmovable, always abounding in God’s work. Let Him use you to the fullest extent and empower you to do what you can’t do in your own strength. He is with you and He needs you to refuse to dwell on the past, but to reach, to press, to move, to run, to push, to fight, to break forth, and to keep your hands to the plow. Prayer: Father God, I receive Your words to my heart. There are great works to be done and I have to keep my hands to the plow. Help me not to look back to my past but stay focused on my future and Your plans for my life. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
