Jesus was tempted just like us. Quick Hit! 15 For we do not - TopicsExpress

Jesus was tempted just like us. Quick Hit! 15 For we do not have a high priest who is unable to empathize with our weaknesses, but we have one who has been tempted in every way, just as we are—yet he did not sin. Every day we are tempted in many different areas. It is easy to think that no one understands and that we are on our own. But that is not true. Jesus went through the same temptations that we go through. No matter the temptation you face, Jesus faced that very same temptation. We can go to Him for help and guidance when we face temptation. Let’s take this one a little deeper. 14 Therefore, since we have a great high priest who has ascended into heaven, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold firmly to the faith we profess. 15 For we do not have a high priest who is unable to empathize with our weaknesses, but we have one who has been tempted in every way, just as we are—yet he did not sin. 16 Let us then approach God’s throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need. Meaning – We live in an evil world where there are loads of temptations. Do you ever feel like no one understands? Do you ever feel like no one knows what you are going through and that you are all alone? Well, Jesus knows how you feel. He has gone through every temptation that you face. No matter what the temptation is, Jesus has gone through the same temptation and He knows how to help you and I avoid the sin we are being tempted with. Application – You want to live a life for Christ, but that one sin keeps tripping you up. How do you overcome? The first step is to realize what that one sin is and to realize that Jesus was tempted just like you are. For me, that sin is wasting time. Was Jesus tempted to watch football on TV like I am? No, but there were ways of recreation that tempted Jesus and competed for His time. So, as I am tempted to watch football games, I can turn to Jesus and just ask, “How did you overcome this one?” Your temptation might be different. Your temptation might be to control your tongue – to not lash back at someone when they say mean things to you. The whole point is, Jesus knows what it is to be tempted and He knows how to help us overcome the temptation. As you are tempted, ask Jesus how to overcome the temptation and to show you the way to avoid the sin that you are being tempted with. Please share this devotional so your friends can be challenged as well. Hope you have a great day.
