Job Description: The Organization: SNV is a non-profit, international development organization, established in the Netherlands in 1965, being present on the ground in developing countries for over 40 years, and now operate in 36 countries in Africa, Asia, Latin America and the Balkans. SNV aims at alleviating poverty by enabling those on the lowest incomes to be part of social and economic networks and so increase their income and employment opportunities. More than half of SNV’s work focuses on economic and private sector development. Alongside this, SNV focuses on three sectors – Agriculture, Water, Sanitation & Hygiene, and Renewable Energy. By focusing on three key roles, in combination with our local presence, SNV aims to boost the effectiveness, scale and sustainability of its work in three roles i.e. Advisory services - through which SNV create solutions with local impact; Knowledge networking - which expands knowledge bases for sustainable poverty reduction; and Evidence-based advocacy - which improves the enabling environment. Background of the assignment:SNV Ethiopia with other consortia members including CARE Ethiopia, CRS, ORDA and REST is implementing GRAD (Graduation with Resilience to Achieve Sustainable development) a 5-year program in four regions, namely Amhara, Oromia, SNNPR and Tigray in 16 woredas i.e. Ofla, Alamata, Enda Mohoni and Raya Azebo (Tigray); Libo Kemkem and Lay Gayint (Amhara); Arsi Negele, Zeway Dugda, Shala, Adami Tulu (Oromia); Mesken, Mareko, Loka Abaya, Hawale Tula, Hawasa Zuria and Shebedino (SNNPR). The program intends to reach directly 75,000 PSNP households and graduate 50,000 households from safety net. Goal and Objectives: The goal of the GRAD program is to contribute significantly to sustained food security for chronically and transitory food insecure households in rural Ethiopia. The strategic objective of GRAD is to graduate 50,000 chronically food insecure HHs from Productive Safety Net (PSNP) support in 16 targeted woredas and increase each HH’s income by $365 per year. This goal is met through three interlinked results: Result 1 – Enhanced Livelihood Options of Chronically Food Insecure Households in Highland Areas. Result 2 – Improved Household and Community Resilience Result 3 – Strengthened Enabling Environment to Promote Scale-up and Sustainability A. Purpose:The main purpose of the internship is (a) to support GRAD advisors in input-output marketing proposal development (b) case writing and documentation (c) support in logistics and event organization The internship would offer an opportunity for the applicant with pro-poor value chain development approach in food security projects. The applicant would be able to acquire hands on knowledge working in a multi stakeholder arena, practical value chain development as well as knowledge management. Tasks: I. Proposal writing and final document preparations. Assisting advisors in proposal development for output marketing Contacting the respective applicant and finalizing the document Getting the review of the lead advisor before sharing for appraisal Preparation of client selection document, assignment agreement and contracts Getting the private sector to sign the contract and making sure the finance is released Supporting in filing of client (applicant) documents Supporting in GRAD in documentation Identifying topics/stories per value chain by contacting advisors and IPs Documenting the cases using USAID/ SNV case templates on the field Supporting in compilation of reports and studies 2. Coordinating logistics and events (sometimes) Support planning and logistics arrangement for GRAD team if required Arrange client visits and appointments Support organization of different events and workshops [- CARE: Cooperative for assistance and Relief everywhere - CRS: Catholic Relief Service, - ORDA: Organization for rehabilitation and development in Amhara - REST: Relief Society of Tigray Job Requirements: New graduates in first or second degree not more than two years after graduation with background of agribusiness, agricultural economics, marketing, sociology or management, OR communication Strong exposure to proposal writing and/or appraisal Good English speaking and writing skills and background in communication Prior experience and passion for case writing and documentation Prior experience in working in /or with INGO or related project Knowledge of local languages is a plus Computer literate and knowledge of the use of Microsoft office How to Apply: Application process Interested applicant should submit Strong Motivation letter (max of 1.5 pages, 12 font, Updated CV with references Shortlisted will be interviewed ALL submissions of interest should be sent to: Only applicants who meet the above requirements are invited to send their applications, CVs and supporting documents to the HR Officer, SNV Ethiopia, P.
