Job Opportunity in Washington DC: IT Manager needed! Salary: $67,720 - $94,563 Schedule: Monday - Friday 9:00am - 5:00pm The Metropolitan Washington Council of Governments (MWCOG) is seeking an energetic candidate for their Information Technology Manager (IT Manager). The IT Manager at MWCOG is responsible for ensuring reliable operations of MWCOG’s information technology infrastructure. The IT Manager will directly oversee help desk and network operations as well as lead agency wide technology projects. MWCOG’s IT Manager will also collaborate with local government CIOs and their staff to implement and support technology initiatives within the national capital region. The IT Manager reports to the Director of Information Technology & Facility Management (ITFM). REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES · Knowledge of help desk procedures and best practices. · Knowledge of local and wide-area network technologies, including Cisco networking hardware (switches, routers, firewalls, servers), management software, network operating systems and protocols (specifically TCP/IP). · Strong background in installing, maintaining, troubleshooting and managing Microsoft Windows-based computers in a networked environment. Strong understanding of Windows Active Directory. · Prior experience in supporting Microsoft Exchange Server, Microsoft SQL Server, and Microsoft SharePoint Server is preferred. · Experience with financial management systems and reporting beneficial. · Excellent customer service skills. · Ability to describe technical topics from a business perspective. · Good personnel management skills. · Ability to work on multiple projects with competing deadlines. · High attention to detail. · High degree of conscientiousness. Education and Experience A four-year college degree is required, preferably in Information Technology, Management Information Systems, Computer Science, or similar field of study. At least five years working in information technology on the level of a system engineer or above is required. Two or more years managing technical staff is preferred. Cisco or project management certification a plus.
