Job Title: Cashier I Closing Date/Time: Tue. 09/17/13 11:59 PM Eastern Time Salary: $11.49 Hourly $919.30 Biweekly $23,901.67 Annually Job Type: Full Time Permanent Location: Augusta, Georgia Print Job Information | Apply DESCRIPTION Benefits Supplemental Questions Provides clerical and cashier support within the guidelines of Augusta-Richmond County codes and ordinances, departmental rules and regulations, and instructions from the supervisor. Reports to the Cashier Supervisor or other designated person and works with co-workers and the public to provide administrative support. PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: •Operates and balances cash drawer, makes change and issues receipts, and processes payments from the night depository. •Maintains proficiency in cashiering module of CIS billing software, processes incoming mail. •Runs checks through endorsing/scanning machine and produces duplicate receipts upon request. •Directs customers to service counter for account information. •Serves as a resource to subordinate personnel. •Performs other duties of a similar nature or level. REQUIREMENTS: EDUCATION: High school diploma, G.E.D., or equivalent level of education. EXPERIENCE: One to three years experience as a cashier and customer service experience. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES: •Considerable knowledge of customer service skills •Familiarity with Augusta-Richmond County and departmental policies and procedures pertaining to utility billing •Considerable computer skills and calculator skills by touch •Proficiency in handling large sums of money, preparing reports, and filing and maintaining financial records and accounts •Mastery of basic mathematics and operating standard office equipment, computer, receipting and endorsing machines •Demonstrated ability to work independently. Does not have lead responsibility and receives close to moderate supervision •Communication, interpersonal skills as applied to interaction with coworkers, supervisor, the general public, etc. sufficient to exchange or convey information and to receive work direction. OTHER: PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Positions in this class typically require: walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, fingering, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, seeing and repetitive motions. Work is performed in an office setting. Light Work: Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or negligible amount of force constantly to move objects. If the use of arm and/or leg controls requires exertion of forces greater than that for Sedentary Work and the worker sits most of the time, the job is rated for Light Work.
