The steady decline of Durban Kwaito is partly due to the Rise of Rap, however lets not forget the Oskidos and TKZees of this world whose legacy is now being preserved in the form of New Age Kwaito! Khuli Chana ft Magesh, Reason n Maggs got something with Kabelo. The preservation of the 90s type of kwaito is one of Kalawas biggest missions as you would imagine, after investing so much in the genre and the industry as a whole. According to Oskido, Professor should have set-up in Durban way before Tira because the Durban monopoly is Kwaitos vital piece. Professor is the biggest Durban artist and hes at Kalawa, watch out for his sound, Its definitely going to be closer to the Afrobeats sound and a typical powerful bassguitar constant rhythm bringing in catchy concepts and hooks. Durban Kwaito is dead and Joburg Kwaito is re-emerging. Zakwe sold 25 000 copies and still doesnt share the same status or limelight as A.K.A. ... Khuli Chana ...Casper Nyovest , all of whom have never sold 15 copies in their careers. I foresee Durbanites idolising Joburg rappers in a similar fashion as the Kwaito acts of the 90s and 2000s. Bra Wam Entertainment has something to offer though !
