Joey Hart sent me a copy of Spirit of the Wind for my birthday - TopicsExpress

Joey Hart sent me a copy of Spirit of the Wind for my birthday this year. With my work schedule, I was finally able to watch it last night. I know its taking place mostly in the 50s, but its relevance to the beauty of the Interior in the 80s (and Im sure even present day) is still valid. Not only did I recall watching this movie in Minto for the first time (in the Elders Hall) but it made me miss the folks I met there. Im friends with a lot of you on Facebook but a lot of those I miss are no longer here. For those of you still here, Im going to come see you. I dont know when, but I want my children to see how rich and beautiful my life was with you guys. I want my kids to know that I wasnt always this stressed out workaholic. I was once a village kid.... I played softball until 3am. I have ridden a dog sled. (super cool) I have heard silence. I have danced with my Athabascan friends. I still know the words to Airplane. I how to bead. Not good at it, but I know how. I can still count to 3 in Athabascan. I still tell people I have an Athabascan name. Tzoogee. And many more... I miss Minto. Im insanely jealous of my red-white headed brother for being able to see you guys. His kids know Grandma Sarah and Grandpa Berkman. Theyve met Luke and Alice Titus. Theres so much wisdom there that my kids havent heard yet. Im going to come see you guys. And Lord willing Ill have 4 wide eyed kids with me when I do. But for now Ill settle for making them watch Spirit of the Wind with me. Ill pause the movie to explain things like... No, thats a small king salmon, they actually get bigger than that. Well, when youre dog-sledding, its pretty quiet...theres no background music. Yes, the Yukon river IS THAT BIG! Much love, and know that somebody in Texas is missing you right now.
