John Waters has had two of his movies turned into Broadway musicals. There was the hugely successful HAIRSPRAY and then there was CRY-BABY. I preferred CRY-BABY but apparently no one else did so the show closed quickly. Here is their performance on the 2008 Tony Awards. Rumor has it that there has been a cast recording made... hopefully it will be available soon so that everyone can enjoy the hysterical lyrics and catchy melodies.
