Johnnie Shuler, Rough Rider varsity basketball player #0 and recipient of a full, four-year scholarship from LaSalle University was named the 2013-14 Gatorade District of Columbia Boys Basketball Player of the Year!!! Johnnie becomes eligible to become the Gatorade National Boys Basketball Player of the Year, a selection that will be awarded this month. Roosevelt will receive a banner acknowledging Johnnies award, and Johnnie himself has received a trophy. This is the 29th year this award has been given to the athlete who best manifests excellence, academic achievement and exemplary character, and is an incredible achievement for any young person. Previous recipients of this award include Dwight Howard and Alonzo Mourning. The entire Roosevelt family congratulates Johnnie on this tremendous accomplishment!
