Join Pianist Stefan Cassar and Soprano Marisa Buchheit for an evening of exquisite music at PianoForte Studios in the South Loop. Concert is FREE and will also have light bites, wine, and refreshments for all guests. ($10 suggested donation) This will be Stefans American DEBUT Recital, and is not to be missed! Stefan and Marisa first performed together in Summer 2013 at the Polignac Castle near the remote town of Le Puy-en-Velay in Southern France. They are thrilled to collaborate once again in Chicago. So anchio la virtu magica - Donizetti ~~~ About Stefan: Maltese pianist Stefan Cassar has been living in France since 1989. A graduate of the Royal School of Music in London and the Ecole Normale Superieure de Musique de Paris where he studied with professor Germaine Mounier after being awarded the Eyton Scholarship offered by the Albert Roussel Association of Paris, he studied under renowned masters including Helena Czerny Stefanska and Valery Affanassiev. He also studied at the Mozarteum in Salzburg in Austria, as a scholarship student under Sergio Perticaroli. Stefan Cassar has been a prize winner in the Sophia 2000 international piano competition for the best interpretation of Liszt s Après une Lecture du Dante, a work which he has recorded in a cd including major works by Beethoven and Chopin. The press and media have acclaimed his playing. Invited on French national television France2 in the authoritative Telematin Culture he has been described as one of the leading and talented pianists in France and for whom... pas de souci pour ce pianiste extraordinaire ...le succès de sa carrière musicale est assuré An article in Le Progrèsde Lyon entitled Stefan Cassar le plus Lyonnais des Maltais, by Jean Didier Dery describes him as «a celebrated pianist on the music international scene and an ambassador of the city of Lyon ». Referring to a recital in Leipzig, Germany’s Leipziger Volkszeitungobserved the public’s enthusiasm for Cassar’s great artistic style in « Lyoner pianist begeistertmit grosser klavier Kunst ». This seasons program will include concerts all over France, Switzerland and Germany but also in Thailand (Bangkok) where he will return next year as part of the jury of the first Chopin international piano competition . He has been engaged this season for a series of private concerts in various venues in Paris organized by major art galleries , museums and also Champagne ,fashion and other prestigious luxury names representing the French art de vivre. The first of a long series will start next April at the Maison Rougehousing one of the finest and most important contemporary art collection .. The Collection Antoine de Galbert Playing regularly in various chamber music ensembles he has performed with prestigious artists including the Ludwig string quartet ,French violoncellist Dominique de Villancourt , Russian violinist Vadim Tchijk,Swiss flutist Myriam Hildber Dickinson,the Camerata de Rhone made up of soloists from the Orchestre National de Lyon,French violinist Thomas Gautier... He has also collaborated with Italian ballet dancer Francesca Ziviani in John Cages Ophelia and Landscapes and with French actor Francois Marthouret in a series of concert - lectures based on poems by Rilke. Stefan Cassar had been Artistic director of various music festivals all over France including Les Nocturnes de Carpentras in Provence and Un Piano a Collonges close to Lyon. He is Artistic director of Un Piano en Hiver Chamber music festival taking place over the Christmas season and Les Moments Musicaux in August both in the paradisiaque Belle -isle-en mer , Island in Brittany off the west coast of France. Stefan Cassar is regularly invited to give master-classes around France. Every July, he travels to the south of France where, he has been organizing and directing summer piano academy close to Marseille on the French Riviera. He has been contracted to perform in Monaco and Cannes to inaugurate the magnificent M Liminal grand piano by the famous Paolo Fazioli. stefancassar ~~~ About Marisa: Marisa is an aspiring professional opera singer and classical/crossover soloist who has performed on stages worldwide. Recognized by the Chicago Tribune as a “Remarkable Woman,” Marisa is known throughout the city as the reigning Miss Chicago 2014 and also as Miss Chicago 2012. She is the first titleholder to capture the prestigious title twice. Marisa’s performance highlights include: National Premier Tour of Romance of the Western Chamber Chinese Musical (portraying the soprano lead role of Ying-ying); Invited guest soprano for the Foreign Ministry of Thailand in Bangkok, Thailand; Performance of Puccini’s La bohème in his hometown of Lucca, Italy; Special concerts in churches and castles in Austria, France, and Italy; and a world music vocal performance with Nation Beat at Severance Hall in Cleveland, OH, home of the Cleveland Orchestra. In summer 2013, Marisa traveled to Italy to perform the lead role of Susanna in Mozart’s Le nozze di Figaro with theInternational Lyric Academy. She has performed withVerismo Opera Theater, American Chamber Opera, CIM Opera Theater, and The Case Western Footlighters. Her recent performance of Zerlina in Mozart’s Don Giovanni received critical acclaim from longtime General Director of Chicago Opera Theater, Brian Dickie: “The chief star was the Zerlina, Miss Chicago 2012. And she was no doubt a worthy winner. But she can sing and perform too. This is Marisa Buchheit – not just a pretty face though she has certainly that as well.” Marisa is active as a solo concert artist throughout the Chicagoland area, and has recently made her debut in the Classical Monday Series at the Chicago Cultural Center and in the Pritzker Auditorium of the Harold Washington Public Library of Chicago. She performs consistently at private parties and special events, Retirement communities, and Chicago-area restaurants and venues. This Fall, she will be presenting 3 Season Opener recitals with the Barrington, Hinsdale, and Glencoe Chapters of the Lyric Opera. She will collaborate with pianists Luciano Laurentiu, Anatoliy Torchinskiy, and Kanae Tsurga, respectively. National Anthem performances include: the 2012 Chicago Air and Water Show, which was broadcast on WBBM to 2 million listeners; cultural/community and Veterans events (such as Thai Festival 2013, Russian Day Gala 2012 at the Chicago Cultural Center, Flag Day Ceremony 2012 in Daley Plaza, Illinois Warrior Summit 2012 with Mayor Rahm Emanuel), professional sports teams (such as Chicago Hitmen Pro Hockey Team, Chicago Slaughter Pro Football, Windy City Wildfire Pro Ultimate Team). As a fashion and music event producer, Marisa founded the Fashion of the Opera charity fashion show benefiting the Merit School of Music in 2012. The event was a collaboration with top fashion and lifestyle producer Benjamin Cottrell of Benjamin Cottrell Designs, and was described as “one of the most prestigious [fashion] events of the season.” The event was held at the InterContinental Chicago Magnificent Mile (sponsored venue), with the Chicago Sun-Times as the Official Media Sponsor. Marisa was also Event Producer for the first ever OperaRocks Gala, a highly successful opera and fashion fusion event featuring Baritone Star David Adam Moore, in collaboration with Verismo Opera Theater and fashion designer Rachel Frank.
