From Heidiehs artist statement: The exploration of the duality of my cultural identity as an Iranian-American defines the essence of my artistic intentions. My recent paintings reflect my ongoing interest in the fusion of visual codes of western abstraction and traditional Persian Art, with an emphasis on the ornamental abstractions of Tazhib, or the art of Illumination. The resulting synthesis evokes allegories of intrusion and invasion, referencing the historical and contemporary sociopolitical conflicts. At the time of this writing, Heidieh is presently showing at Rush Arts Gallery in New York with a show entitled: :The Grand Cypher: Hip Hop, Iran and Syria in a group exhibition exploring the geo-strateguc and cultural diplomacy aspects of Hip Hop.
