Joint Statement 25th November 2013 INSULT TOWARDS ISLAM IN MYANMAR IS STRONGLY CONDEMNED We deplore and condemn with the strongest words against the insult on Islam by the demonstrators in few cities of Myanmar during the OIC delegates visit to Myanmar recently. The visit was to look into the atrocities perpetrated against the Rohingya Muslims since 1942 till today. The demonstrators carried banners insulting Islam as an animal ideology with high birth rate. This is most intolerable and uncivilized . It is very clear that the hate campaign towards Islam and the Muslims is charted intentionally and widespread in Myanmar . The government itself is seen to be complicit with the extremist groups under the pretext that the Muslim Rohingyas are not indigenous citizens of the country. Even most regrettably , the Myanmar government has not shown any sign of halting the sectarian violence which is atrocious and barbaric. The international Muslim ummah will not sit back without registering our strong protest since this is tantamount to announcing war against Islam. We reiterate that this uncivilized action cannot be left unaddressed . We express our strong position of protest that the Myanmar government did not show any sign of displeasure towards the religious violence perpetrated by some of the extremist Buddhist and it was in fact the government itself is encouraging the demonstrators targeting Islam as their enemy. We are announcing that we have decided to submit a protest note to the Myanmar embassy in Kuala Lumpur on the 29th November at 2.45 pm . A peace rally will also be organized after the Jumaat prayer at the Tabung Haji Masjid Kuala Luampur. This coalition will also galvanize an international campaign to pressure Myanmar to stop religious violence and to act on the Buddhist extremist who are continuing to target the Muslims , Islamic madrasah , mosques, buildings and cemeteries . We remind the Myanmar government that the promoting of religious violence is against the UN Human Rights Council resolution and violating this would qualify an international response . We will mobilize an international campaign joining hands with all Muslim communities and other faith to take an effective action on Myanmar who seems to be practicing and promoting religious intolerance especially towards Rohingya Muslims and Islam. We call on all faith and peace loving people for religious co-existence to express a united stand to protest against the violent act against the extremist Buddhist in Myanmar. . We demand that the Dalai Lama , who is the spiritual leader of the Buddhist faith to urge the Buddhist followers to disassociate from any extreme act of violence and to call on the Myanmar government who are predominantly Buddhist to reflect the through policy of peace and harmonious co-existence of people as that guided in the teachings of Buddhism. We urge all Asean member states to issue a strong displeasure towards Myanmar on the insulting action of the demonstrators towards Islam. We call that the position of Myanmar to be the Asean chair from 2014 be reexamine if the religious violence continues unhalted . We also demand that the Malaysian government call the Myanmar ambassador for an explanation and to re-iterate Malaysias position on the genocide against the Rohingya Muslims and its protest against the Insult on Islam. We call on all OIC member state to register their strong protest and to reconsider their diplomatic ties with Myanmar if the insult is not retracted and an open apology to all Muslims are not expressed.
