Jonathan is a wonderful human being. I had several dinners and coffees with him beforehand to talk about it and even a good cry with him as we stood in Kilmainham at dawn before the scene. By the time I walked on to the scaffold I hope I did have that phenomenal air of dignity that Anne had because she went out in the most incredible manner. It was embarassing actually I forgot my lines I got so lost in it. He plays the tyrant so plausibly but what people do not know is that he is very amusing. He brings everyone to laughter and supports new actors on the set. He always asked questions such as which crisps I hate the most and I said, hmm that would probably be cheese and onion. They’re the most revolting ones. The next scene was a kissing scene and who’d have this, he had a mouth full of cheese and onion crisps to kiss me. Kind of funny Jonny! – Annabelle Wallis Jonathan is a truly great actor. He is gorgeous to look at, he’s smoldering and tense and full of conflict and passion. Jonathan is a guy who can’t go to the corner to buy a newspaper, you know, he’s so full of feeling and so full of intensity all of the time and he’s able to just let it out on screen. This is a wonderful thing, I mean Marlon Brando had that kind of depth to the maximum and he’s got it. He’s got enormous, enormous power – Woody Allen, Director of Match Point Jonny is like a young Peter O’Toole. If Lawrence of Arabia were being cast now he’d definitely have a shot.
