【Joshi-Tabi (女子旅) - Girls’ Travel】 Witness one of the grandest festivals in Kyoto! The annual Jidai Matsuri is a parade that starts from the Kyoto Imperial Palace to the Heian Shrine. It is considered to be one of the three major festivals in Kyoto, and it began as a tradition of paying respects to the Heian Shrine in 1895. On its 115th time, it will be yet another grand spectacle with almost 2,000 participants dressed in historical clothing worn in the past while playing the taiko (Japanese drum) and Japanese whistles! The parade is free to view, but you can get special reserved parade seats for a better view by purchasing a 2,050 yen ticket at the Kyoto City Tourist Information. #girlstravel #joshitabi #kyoto kyokanko.or.jp/jidai/ (Japanese) Date: 22 October (Postponed to the following day in the event of rain) Access: A 5-minute walk from Imadegawa Station (Karasuma Line) URL: sankan.kunaicho.go.jp/english/guide/kyoto.html Photo credit: Kyoto City Tourist Information
