Joss feeding therapy is definitely helping her. The - TopicsExpress

Joss feeding therapy is definitely helping her. The hemispherectomy left her with widespread weakness on the right side of her body, including the muscles needed for chewing and swallowing. It also left her with a sensory aversion to all sorts of tastes and textures. When we started, shed only eat maybe 3 flavors of completely pureed baby food and shed only drink Vanilla Pediasure (at room temperature). After just a couple of months of therapy, shes eating big girl foods like yogurt and applesauce with small bits of fruit and crushed cereal mixed into it and shes drinking COLD Pediasure in wild flavors like chocolate and strawberry. My immediate goal is to hopefully get her to drink homemade smoothies so I can hide veggies, Juice Plus supplements and lots of other healthy things in them. Weve been steadily challenging her with increasing amounts of texture and variety and while shes still not crazy about eating, shes definitely becoming more interested in food and is starting to realize that she actually even likes some of it. :) Slow and steady wins the race.
