Joyous mood in many quarters as Senate approves independent candidacy, LGA autonomy and many other things. The Senate adopted the report of the conference committee of the National Assembly on the review of the 1999 constitution which provides for independent candidacy in elections and the scrapping of the State Independent Electoral Commissions, SIECs. Folks, the one that real makes me happy is the independent candidacy, then the autonomy of government at the grassroots. Kudos to the Nigerian Senate for this giant stride. Now, the PDP and APC should be the one looking for good people to run on their platforms, and not the culture of imposition. Again, the state governors should think of what to do to raise funds for their states and not waiting around for the LGs allocation to come to them. Yes, the government at the grassroots will be attractive now.
