Jude 1 verse-3-Dear friends, I had been eagerly planning to write to you about the salvation we all share. But now I find that I must write about something else, urging you to defend the faith that God has entrusted once for all time to his holy people. (4) say this because some ungodly people have wormed their way into your churches, saying that God’s marvelous grace allows us to live immoral lives. The condemnation of such people was recorded long ago, for they have denied our only Master and Lord, Jesus Christ.-New Living Translation Stephen F. Smith-speaking for himself and himself only-Preachers we should be compassionate in some of our discourse with sinners. A fellow preacher friend of mine text-ed me just last night that Compassion is not compromise. We were all born in sin and shaped in iniquity. The sin nature resides within us all at one time or another. In todays church we have some sins that we rail about while we are silent about many others. Everyone should hear about the love of God. However; we must protect against the urge to preach messages that never offend. Some are cut when the Word of God is preached. We must endeavor to leave no one cut without offering to sew up their wounds with the love of Christ. Our preaching should cut to heal and not cut to kill. Yet we must earnestly contend for the faith in the coming days or well be well on our way to Powerless Pulpits. Many sinners will never like our preaching once it gets into their personal business. We cant allow the world and popular opinion to start editing our sermons. Holiness is a lifestyle that we all should endeavor to live. Without this no man shall see the Lord. Even in 2014, Holiness is still right. I am only speaking for myself. Grown men shouldnt always need permission to speak.Thats why so much is left unsaid. Preach the love of God. Preach the word in season and out. If the world didnt love the man that we preach, then how can we expect the world to love us? A good Gospel preacher will always have his fair share of enemies. The Good News when preached will offend many. Once your preaching offends none, like so many preachers of today endeavor to do, then we have ushered in the day of The Powerless Pulpit! My prayer is that there are those who are still endeavoring to Earnestly Contend for the Faith!
