Judgment of the soul text... Ani addresses his heart... At top the gods and goddesses presiding are (right to left Ra, Atum, Shu, Tefnut, Geb, Nut, Nebethet and Aset, Heru Ur Hetheru, Saa and Hu (Divine Taste). Far left, Ani enters the hall of judgment... His heart ( conscience) is being weighed by Anpu while the Divine principals Shai, Rennenet and Meskhenet look on... Anis soul and his destiny also look on while Anubis measures Anis heart against the feather of maat... At far right Djehuti records the result... While the Monster Ammit, the Devourer of the unjust, awaits the answer... The hands of Djehuti (god of reason ) are shai which means destiny and Rennenet which means fortune and harvest destiny... The implication is that we reap harvest the result of our state of mind ( heart)... Our state of mind, including our subconscious feelings and desires, is weighed against cosmic order, Maat if found to be at peace ( Hetep) and therefore in accord with cosmic order ( Maat) it will be allowed to join with the cosmos (Asar)... Otherwise it will suffer the fate as dictated by its own contents ( mental state of unrest due to lingering desires), which will lead it to Ammit who will devour the ego-personality... That soul will experience torments from demons until we learn our lessons... Or become strong enough through wisdom to know itself
