Judiciary correspondents in Umuahia, Abia State capital, narrowly got away snake attack after a gathering with a constituent of the state dwelling of Assembly at his personal residence. The lawmaker, Hon. Ikedi Ezekwesiri, representing Umunneochi constituency, had askedfor the judiciary correspondents for aamicable parley at his house established in Isieke area of Umuahia. The lawmaker has lately been in thereport over a court case in which he was accused for perjury and production of forged university degree credentials to the Independent nationwide Electoral charge (INEC) throughout the 2011 General Election. A journalist, who came to the meeting, notified his colleagues in Umuahia that the visit almost turnedtragic as the serpent abruptly appeared to strike them at about 8.30pm on their way out of the lawmaker’s house. He said: “It was a impolite shock when one of us, who first left the lawmaker’s house, screamed and werushed out to see a large-scale snake well positioned at the middle of the road.” According to him, the serpent dashedto a close by bush as some natives attempted to pelt it with pebbles. The reporter, who did not want his name cited, cited some natives as saying that the serpent suspected had been glimpsed by some other persons in the past. The reporter said: “We directly thanked God for His protection as no one of us was assaulted by the snake. The story would have been different if one of us was attacked.” He said: “About 10 reporters came tothe meeting and the lawmaker tactically bypassed interpreting the cause why he asked for us for the gathering, but lavishly amused us
