Jul 1 at 5:18 PM JOB OPPORTUNITY: ADVOCACY and LIAISON Officer Closing Date: July 7, 2014 Interview Schedule: July 11-15, 2014 Social Watch Philippines (SWP) is looking for an Advocacy and Liaison Officer to work for its program on the Post 2015 Sustainable Development Agenda. Taking off from its initiatives on the Post 2015 Sustainable Development Agenda which include the conduct of national consultations, an initial assessment of the state of discourse of the Post 2015 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and other activities at different levels, SWP plans to intensify its engagement with civil society, the UN and the government who are all stakeholders in the Post-2015 processes. The Advocacy and Liaison Officer will work with the SWP convenors and secretariat and will be supervised by the SWP Co-Convenor assigned to lead the Post 2015 program in coordination with the Secretariat Coordinator. Specifically, the responsibilities of the Advocacy and Liaison Officer are the following: 1. Monitor and gather updates on the status and processes of the Post-2015 SDG agenda at national, regional and global; 2. Organize national and/or sectoral consultations on the SDGs; 3. formulate and implement advocacy strategies with a view to influencing official process at different levels; 4. Liaise with civil society groups, the UN and government agencies working on Post 2015 SDGs to maintain links and collaboration; 5. Write statements and press releases highlighting key messages as defined by the results of the consultations and other meetings, and to be disseminated at national and international levels; 6. Attend and represent SWP in meetings related to the Post 2015 SDGs; 7. Perform other related tasks that may be assigned by SWP Co-Convenor and Secretariat Coordinator. Qualifications 1. Graduate of any social science course with interest in development policy; 2. Good policy advocacy and lobbying skills; 3. Good communication skills, both oral and written; 4. Skilled in organizing consultations and meetings; 5. Good networking skills and can effectively interact with different audiences (e.g., state and non-state actors); 6. Computer literate; 7. Good moral character. We will prioritize applicants who can begin work by mid-July 2014 (please state this in your cover letter). SWP offers a six-month contract, with possible extension, with reasonable compensation package inclusive of legislated benefits (13th month, Social Security System, Pag-Ibig Fund and PhilHealth).
