Jul 4, 2013 6:25:00 PM Fecafoot has been suspended from all footballing activities as part of the fall-out from president Mohammed Iya’s re- election last month Cameroon have been provisionally suspended by Fifa from all competitions with immediate effect as a result of "government interference". The news comes less than an hour after Cameroon were awarded three points, to put them top of World Cup qualification in Group I, as Togo fielded Jacques Alexys Romao, who was ineligible for last month’s meeting between the two teams. This latest development could prevent the Indomitable Lions from playing a crucial qualifying match versus Libya on September 6. A Fifa statement read: “"The Fifa emergency committee has decided to provisionally suspend the Cameroonian Football Association with immediate effect on account of government interference. “During the period of suspension, Fecafoot may not be represented in any regional, continental or international competitions, including at club level, or in friendly matches. "In addition, neither Fecafoot nor any of its members or officials may benefit from any Fifa or CAF development programmes, courses or training during the suspension period.” A normalisation committee will be set up to organise an election for a new Cameroonian Football Association president by March 31, 2014, while running the day-to-day business of Fecafoot. While a deadline date has not yet been set, the election must take place well before Cameroon’s next qualifier or they will be forced to miss the match, thus relinquishing any hopes of qualifying for Brazil 2014.
