Julia Stan Romania, Bucharest & Cluj started the protests against Chevron & Gabriel Resources in support of the people in Pungesti where Chevron is trying to place a Fracking drill on peoples property. One person died. Its confirmed. Three others are in critical condition. 450 people tried to stop Chevron people for 3 days. The Romanian government doesnt talk. The Canadian media doesnt talk. The American media... might be a chance. I placed a brief about the situation on FB sites of UN, WB, US foreign policy site, a few NGOs. Please, do the same. Romania: The police helping Chevron beat up an elderly. The leader of the protest is dead Spiridon Costache, an 81 years old was beaten up and three are other protesters are experiencing heart attacks. Chevron wants to install wells by force in Pungeşti-Vaslui, Romania! Young and old, the villagers of Pungeşti, Romania are determined not to allow Chevron company representatives to install fracking well units on their territory. Right now, they are on their knees in the middle of the road facing 18-wheelers, bulldozers and 200 policemen and special tacctical unit brought in by Chevron and their lackey company Prospectiuni S.A. Prospectiuni S.A is Ovidiu Tenders company, friend and business partner of Frank Timis, founder of Gabriel Resources (GBU). Frank Timis conducts his business from London (UK) as head of Regal Petroleum and African Minerals through Timis Corporation. Chevron does not hesitate to break the law and plans to extract gas without having all the permits in place. To get to the place in question Chevron must go through a public domain lot and then pass over a creek and build a footbridge. To build the footbridge, the Romanian law requires an environmental impact study. However, Chevron choose to save time and money and decided to bring the heavy installations without following the law of the land. Over 450 people from the village Pungesti, county Vaslui, blocked the place where Chevron wants to install their wells for shale gas drilling by hydraulic fracturing. . People say that they will not succumb and will not leave until the company will not withdraw all the machinery. From 7:00am we keep those who want to destroy this area. There are people from five villages gathered here. The gendarmes have been on our side and hope somehow things go in the right direction, said Constantin Paslaru , president of the Romanian Ecologist Party ( PER ) Iasi , one of the protesters at the scene.
