The police(all white) decide to raid a private social club(a blind pig) late one Saturday night, and arrest all 82 people(all black), and 50 years of disrespect, discrimination, anger, frustration, etc, boil over into 5 days of rioting, looting, gunfights, etc. -- 43 dead, 1,100 seriously wounded, 2,000 buildings destroyed by fire, and a city thats never recovered as the flight to the suburbs by both businesses & people exploded. Oh, and that social club that the police decided was such a threat and needed to be busted up and the folks thrown in jail?? Those 82 people who were arrested? Friends & family of 2 guys who had just returned from tours of duty in Vietnam. Yeah. Ironic, no? American History 101, not African American History, guys. Were all in this together, whether we choose to recognize it or not.
