July 20 WHAT IS THE SIGN? Therefore the Lord Himself will give you a sign: Behold, the virgin shall conceive and bear a Son, and shall call His name Immanuel. Isaiah 7:14 THE SIGN AND THE NAME Everyone knows that it is impossible for a virgin to conceive and bear a child. BUT GOD said it, and it was, and is true. Immanuel literally means “God with us” Jesus was sent from Heaven to take on flesh in order to show us what our Heavenly Father was like. Jesus came as a sign to mankind that there was a God in the universe and that He wanted to have personal communication with his creations. In the garden, Adam and Eve had perfect communication. What they said they meant, and they said what they thought. They never had to try to wonder what God was saying to them or they were saying to God. We have never had perfect communication with anyone. Then fear, doubt, unbelief and disobedience entered into the garden and Satan took the form of a snake. He deceived Adam and Eve into thinking that God was holding out something good from them. Doubt entered the mind and disobedience followed. The enemy still uses the same tactics today, time and time again. The reason is because our minds are always running off in one direction or the other while a person is talking. And we don’t really hear and understand what they just said because we are plotting what we are going to say after they finish talking. I wonder if we do the same thing with God. We have a preconceived notion of what God is going to answer or say. God planned a miracle. It was prophesied again and again in the Old Testament. Then when the time came, the angel spoke it to Mary and she received the incorruptible, indestructible seed of the Word of God. And it was so. Jesus (God with us) was born. AND THE WORD BECAME FLESH AND DWELT AMONG US (John 1:14)
